It takes a silent army of people working behind the scenes to keep America’s “feeding troughs,” bars and other feeding establishments up and running.  Without this quite army of often dazed and confused employees, the food service industry would come to a complete and total stop.  In fact, the fast food industry depends upon this army of poorly paid individuals to keep its wheels grinding.  After all, it must continue to spit out the carcasses of chicken parts, cow parts and other animal parts sprinkled liberally with increasingly large amounts of soy and other fillers.

The dining room attendant, the cafeteria attendant and the bartender helper can be found performing such fun tasks as cleaning tables, which means removing dirty dishes.  They may also be found helping waitresses and waiters bring out meals or restocking any of the various items used at a restaurant during a service period.  This can range from bringing out more napkins and silverware to helping set tables.  In a word, the dining room attendant, the cafeteria attendant and the bartender helper work in a support capacity to make certain that a restaurant or bar is able to function.  Without them, it would all come to an incredibly abrupt halt.

A Day in The Life:

In case you’ve not been paying attention, this is not a glamorous job.  People are not going to stop you on the street and ask for an autograph.  As a dining room attendant, the cafeteria attendant or bartender helper you will be working behind the scenes making sure that everything runs smoothly so that food and drinks make to the hungry, drunken masses. 

Without you, there would be chaos.  Often those who work in this position are forgotten and their contribution is overlooked, but the truth is that those bags of chemical-soy chucks disguised as “chicken” sent from corporate will not unload themselves from the truck, to the deep fryer and into people’s guts all by themselves.  Somebody has to do it and that somebody is often the dining room attendant, cafeteria attendant or even the bartender helper.

 

Average Salary:

The average dining room attendant, the cafeteria attendant and bartender helper also makes a pretty average salary of about $7 per hour.
 

Career Training and Qualifications:

Much of the training is on the job, and there are no firm educational requirements.
